Three weeks back from the journey… two in your face realizations -1) Life quickly adjusts to your circumstances… did the trip ever happen???  2) We are a consumer nation and we WASTE so much.  Please recycle, turn the lights off, don’t waste water (just pee outside ) and remember that “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure“

What is new in the life of John and the greater world we live in…loose end tie up, final goodbyes, figuring out if I shall keep this site active whilst away, making sure homes are in order, stock trading, boat issues, outfitting, pizza party in West Point last night, great night in Rockland with Erin at sweet bed and breakfast, standard fare I would say.

So, the decision to keep this blog running concurrent with the new and exciting CaribbeanEndeavour.com, hmmmm..  do I have enough to write about, does it make sense, what is the purpose, intent, meaning and reason for communication, why do we strive so hard to reach as many people as possible in this day and age, questions with so many answers in so many different books and resources by so many different authors, minds, philosophies!  A couple pictures from 07  and 06 work weekends at Neph, perhaps the most wonderful place in my memory to date although the Caribbean may surely give it a run for its money!   Keep on rocking in the free world and if you are reading this the post below is new with a great quote that I had forgotten to upload

Well, a rainy Saturday AM here in Bath as I prepare to embark up the coast to Rockland with Sverre to work upon the Audax. The quote above was sent to me by Erin and is one of the best I have seen in quite a while. In this life there are people who complain about everything and there are those that roll with the punches. It seems more so our generation is the complainers and the older ones are less so but in the dynamic world we live in, it is never too late to change Mind set and attitude, perception and knowledge. Read a great story by Scot at his website about vanity and perception taken after reading Huxley, a British author I do believe. The lawn was shaved, the wings were cooked, the budweisers were cracked, hmmm this used to be mountain dew 10 years prior :)  and the game was on. Full of fun filled crocquing competition, kisses to the victors of our most excellent tournement Cohen and Kastro!  Congratulations my friends but watch out for next time around.   10 years and it seemed like just yesterday, what a great joy to experience with great friends from a past life for sure not forgotten.  The official reunion, far better than could ever be expected and I must say I am very blessed to have such great people to experience life with.  Hopefully you can see all the happy, perhaps wine and beer induced but nonetheless…. A night in the city, a night at the nauga nest, many subway rides, multiple trains and buses and back to Maine, back to boats, back to insurance problems, read about them at www.caribbeanendeavour.com   

Hearing my most recent blog being read aloud at my grandmothers funeral was an interesting and unique experience making me realize the value and powerfulness of wonderful words.  As I agonize now as to where to write, being the creation of a new site and blog for our Caribbean trip.  www.CaribbeanEndeavour.com with the hope that Steve and Jordi shall add as much meaningful and important content about our exploits  the balancing of multiple platforms seems to be a common thread throughout life.  Boat survey tomorrow,read about it at the other site and then 10 year high school reunion this coming weekend, a busy and action packed time ahead…  Thanks to all who came to show the love for my grandmother and our family…

Today our grandmother passed on to be with her husband and many others in perhaps a better place than this physical earth we live on. I guess we will only know when we get there ourselves.  A wonderful life she had, a spectacular grandmother and I can only suspect  a super mom to both my father and Aunt Katy.  Fond memories of the holidays, Christmas Eve, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter always spent with her and many loved ones, I only hope we can continue to carry on some of the great traditions we have had for so long.  With death one gets to rethink their life and the preciousness of each moment, each site, sound, thought, memory we have.  Be happy for your own health and those around you. Say a prayer and do a nice deed for someone else.

So for many who are in the know, the journey South continues to grow and take great shape. With a tentative departure date set for November 5th from Maine, brrr.. The name of the game now has been to get a boat. Keeping our fingers crossed, the sites have been set on this one…click here and the financial wheels continue to turn ensuring the purchase will be a successful one. Cruising ready but for being on dry land the last 3 years, comfortable quarters, a solid and safe vessel, strong and hopefully fast enough to take Jordi, Steve and myself upon the voyage of exitement and mystery. September has been great! Cooperating weather, continued sailing, lots of real estate work, a little stock trading, Patriots fever, not sure what is going on with the SOX and many great times shared with many.

3 weeks since the last posting on my site, hmmm… what could this mean?  lack of interesting things to write about, no time to write, uninterest in sharing personal tidbits of my fascinating life… Well, life continues to move in fairly predictable ways as of late.  As I write from the revamped Shrimp Shed aka Yacht Club, the sun is shining, the temperature is cool and Fall is fast approaching as the leaves have begun their annual shift. Simply heavenly weather over Labor Day that included for myself sailing, boating, lobstering, lobster bake, tennis, and great times as always with family and friends.  The Santa Maria managed to pull off a 2nd in the Saturday July series, the first medaling of the boat ever, thank you Gordon and all other excellent crew members!   Plans for the excursion South move forward as well, departure date the 1st of November, brrr…….  Estate/Garage sale at Sybs this Saturday at 10 for all and anybody who needs furniture.  Best of wishes and stay postitive, optimistic and happy as best as you always can…..
